Calgary, Alberta—On December 1, 2020, the Real Estate Amendment Act came into force, creating a modern governance model for the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA). A Board of Directors and four, industry-specific Industry Councils now govern residential real estate, commercial real estate, property management, and mortgage broker licensees in Alberta.
As part of the new model, the members of the four Industry Councils appoint one of their licensee members to RECA’s Board of Directors. Each Industry Council met between December 11 and December 14 to appoint their Board Member and to select their Industry Council Chair and Vice Chair.
RECA is pleased to announce the members of the Board of Directors and Industry Councils, including Chairs and Vice Chairs. Both Board and Industry Council members are appointed for 3-year terms, and can serve 2 terms consecutively. The Board of Directors is composed of three members of the public appointed by the Minister of Service Alberta, and four licensees, one appointed from each of the four Industry Councils from among their licensee members.
