Real Estate Act Regulations

The Real Estate Act allows for the Minister of Service Alberta or Lieutenant governor in Council to make Regulations affecting areas of the Act. When new Regulations pass, Lieutenant Governor in Council signs an Order in Council with effective date.

There are two types of Regulations:

Ministerial Regulations

set policy in regards to the organization and administration of the Alberta Real Estate Foundation and the Real Estate Assurance Fund, the nomination structure for real estate appraiser and property manager representatives on Council, and any other matters that need to be dealt with in the Regulations.

Exemption Regulation

Grants certain persons exemption from the Act.

Amendments were made to the Exemption Regulation on November 10, 2021, and come into force on December 1, 2021.
