Brokers: Provide your Input on the Rules

This is a reminder that we need broker feedback on the current Real Estate Act Rules (Rules) as part of Phase 1 of the Rules Review Consultation by May 9, 2023.

The comprehensive review of the Rules will take place in three phases from February 2023 until the Fall of 2024. Phase 1 is currently underway and began on February 9th with an initial email sent to all brokers and industry-affiliated organizations. 

Stakeholder feedback will allow us to identify areas of the current Rules that may need updating, amending, or removal. Your insights and feedback are crucial to improving consumer protection, reducing red tape, and aligning the Rules with current technologies and market realities. 

We strongly encourage all brokers to read the Discussion Paper and form an internal committee within your brokerage, made up of the management team, to review the Rules in their entirety and formalize a written submission from your organization. Please consider including your associates when preparing your submission. 

RECA is also available for direct meetings with brokerages to discuss the Rules and gather feedback.
