Become a Licensee in Alberta
All new applicants must:
- Complete the eligibility process
- Enrol in and successfully complete pre-licensing education with a recognized course provider
- Provide a current criminal record check
- Apply for your licence through an Alberta brokerage
- Demonstrate good character and suitability for licensing
These steps help ensure licensees meet Alberta’s regulatory and professional standards.

Eligibility Requirements
To enrol in pre-licensing education, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Provide valid government-issued identification (ID)
- Have a minimum of Canadian high school education (or equivalent)
- Provide proof of English language proficiency
Applicants who do not meet these requirements are not eligible to proceed with licensing.
