2025 Annual Report
This past year, RECA reached the highest real estate licence renewal rate in Alberta’s history, with over 20,000 individuals currently licensed. This record-breaking milestone reflects the continued growth and strength of Alberta’s real estate, mortgage, property management, and condominium management sectors. As these industries expand, it becomes even more important to maintain strong, effective regulatory practices that protect consumers and support long-term industry success.

2024 Regulatory Review
In 2024, RECA engaged The Regulator’s Practice and international expert Harry Clayton to conduct an independent review of our performance against global best practices. This was the first review under our new governance structure and updated operations.
The review confirmed that RECA is effectively meeting its mandate compared to international regulators, while also identifying opportunities to improve. Key recommendations focus on:
- clearly identifying consumer and public interests in all activities
- improving the efficiency and effectiveness of regulatory functions
- strengthening policy development
- increasing transparency and openness in decision-making
RECA’s mandate is to protect consumers and support the integrity of Alberta’s self-regulated real estate industry.
