Transfer My Licence
An associate or associate broker may transfer from one brokerage to another as a result of their own request or as a result of being terminated by their current broker.
Whether an industry professional is choosing to transfer brokerages or a broker is terminating an industry professional, they must provide written notification of their intention to the other party. Both situations need to be processed through myRECA.
- The termination can be processed by either the industry professional’s current broker or new broker (if they are transferring).
- There is a fee to transfer brokerages. The fee schedule is here.
- If the current broker is terminating a registration, they are required to report any misconduct relating to fraud, misrepresentation, deception, theft, or unlawful activities on the part of the associate/associate broker to the executive director.
- If the new broker processes the termination, they are expected to verify with the industry professional that the industry professional has provided written notice to their previous broker of the cancellation.
As with all applications, a broker cannot fully complete a registration if the applicant has answered ‘Yes’ to any of the suitability questions on the application. When you submit the application using myRECA, if there is a “yes” answer, RECA staff will have to review the application prior to granting a registration. It will not happen immediately upon payment. For more information about transferring an associate, please review the myRECA tutorial - Transferring an Associate.
