Parking My Licence
You may choose to cancel your registration, or allow it to expire on September 30, in any registration period. Industry professionals often refer to this as “parking” your licence.
Your authorization consists of a licence from RECA AND a current registration with a brokerage. When someone ‘parks’ their licence, it is the registration that expires, not the licence.
If you want to cancel your registration, login to your myRECA account, and click on the Licensing Tab. You can cancel your registration from the Current Licences page within that section. There is no fee to cancel your registration.
If you want your registration to expire on September 30, advise your broker you do not want to renew. Your registration will automatically lapse at midnight on September 30.
When your registration expires, you are no longer authorized. You cannot trade in real estate, deal in mortgage or provide property management services while "parked."
You can apply to re-instate your registration within three years from the date you were last registered, provided you have completed all necessary re-instatement requirements.
You can see your re-instatement requirements on your myRECA homepage. For more information on accessing your myRECA account, and tracking your reinstatement requirements, please review the myRECA tutorials.
If you do not re-instate your registration within three years from the date you were last registered, your licence will be terminated and you will have to complete the entire pre-licensing education program in order to apply for a new licence and registration in the future.
