RECA Education Policies

Withdrawal Policy

To withdraw from a course, you must send a written request to education@reca.ca within 10 business days from the date you purchased the course. If your request is approved, payment will be sent to the person who paid for the course less a non-refundable amount of $300 for course administration costs. No refund will be approved after the 10 business days.

Extension Policies

You must keep track of your program/course expiry date(s), which are in your myRECA account.
To extend your original program/course expiry date, you have 2 options to choose from: 

You must pay the extension fee a minimum of 10 business days before your program/course expires. Once a program/course has expired, you will not be able to receive an extension, as expired programs/courses are not retained in the system.   

Exam Write Policy
Once you have completed your course you will be issued a Permission to Write (PTW). The Exam Guidelines and a list of RECA-approved exam centres are provided with your PTW. You are responsible to book your exam at an approved exam centre and pay the proctoring fee and any other fee charge by the exam centre. Book your exam in advance to ensure you can write your exam on the day you wish. You must achieve a minimum of 70% to pass the exam.

Exam Rewrite Policy   
If you fail your exam you can have 1 opportunity before your program/course expires to retake the exam. Once your program/course expires, you cannot rewrite any failed exam. You can purchase your exam rewrite through your myRECA account under My Applications. Once you have paid the exam rewrite fee, you will be sent a Permission to Rewrite (PTR). You are responsible to book your exam at a RECA-approved exam centre and pay the proctoring fee and any other fee charged by the exam centre. Book your exam in advance to ensure you can rewrite your exam on the day you wish. You must achieve a minimum of 70% to pass the exam. If you do not pass the rewrite exam, you will have to re-enroll in the program/course to continue your learning. Attempting to write an exam more than the permitted number of times is a violation of the Education Code of Conduct for Learners.

Property Management Exemption Policy
If you hold a current Real Property Administrator (RPA) or Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation, you may apply to RECA to be exempted from the Practice of Property Management course and exam. For further information, please contact RECA Education at education@reca.ca.
