Condominium Rules

Condo corporations may impose rules in addition to, and to supplement, the bylaws.

Rules may be prescribed respecting procedures used in the administration of the corporation itself, the corporation’s property, the common property, and any managed property.

Rules can be made, amended, and repealed by resolution of the condo board. As they don’t require a meeting of the entire condo corporation, they allow the condo board to respond to the changing needs of the condo corporation, property, and occupants.

The rules must be reasonable and consistent with all relevant legislation as well as the bylaws of the corporation. The board must inform owners and tenants of any changes to the rules.

Rules cannot restrict the use of units.
