Council Member Opportunity – Licensed industry professional, Non-AREA Member

Are you an industry leader that demonstrates enthusiastic support for self-regulation, and a genuine interest in the Real Estate Council of Alberta’s (RECA) role and the professionals it regulates? Are you a licensed industry professional who isn’t a member of the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA)?

RECA is currently seeking a licensed industry professional to serve as a member of Council. This Council member must be selected from licensed industry professionals who are not members of AREA. Please note, the current non-AREA appointment, Bonny Clarke, expires on October 31, 2018 and she is eligible for re-appointment for a second three-year term. Bonny Clarke currently serves as RECA Chair-Elect, and has confirmed her intention to seek re-appointment to this position.

This Council appointment begins November 1, 2018 and expires October 31, 2021.

The commitment to serve as a member of Council includes but is not limited to:

Council members receive an honorarium and are reimbursed for expenses. They can expect to dedicate, on average, 30 days per year to fulfill their Council Member duties. Do you want to help build consumer trust and confidence in the real estate profession in Alberta? Do you have a strong background in governance? The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) is seeking an individual, who is a member of the public, to serve as a Council member. Current industry professionals are not eligible to fill this position.

RECA is an independent, non-government agency, responsible for licensing and regulating real estate, mortgage broker, property management, and real estate appraisal industry professionals under Alberta’s Real Estate Act. RECA’s mandate is to protect consumers and to provide services that enhance and improve the industry and the business of industry professionals.
